Share Your Story

As a first-generation, community college transfer student who transferred to the University of Michigan as an undergraduate student, I know precisely how it feels to be in the shoes of a first-generation student here at U of M. Not only was I the first person in my family to complete a University degree for my Bachelor’s, but I also went on to complete my Master’s degree at the University of Chicago in 2022. My passion and dream to be involved professionally in Higher Education work stems specifically from my desire and personal goals to be there and truly see and hear students whose backgrounds are just like my own. There are more of us first-generation students and graduates than we think, and we deserve to celebrate this! The grit, drive, and empathy found in each and every first-generation student is exemplary and an asset to both the academic world and beyond.
