2022 First-Generation Graduation Celebration

In addition to the University of Michigan’s spring commencement ceremony, OAMI hosts seven multicultural graduations in Spring 2022 to celebrate the students’ many accomplishments and their supportive communities. These celebrations are part of the broader commencement experience and mark a tradition of valuing the various cultural offerings to the University and the world community.

The First-Generation Graduation Celebration Committee honored the Class of 2022 graduates aiming to celebrate the accomplishments, traditions, and experiences of the graduating first-generation student community. All undergraduate and graduate students who graduated in December 2021, May 2022, or August 2022 were invited to be recognized at the ceremony. Registration wavered due to Covid-19 symptoms but showed strong numbers given the pandemic.
