I am a Staff Member here at the University for the Blavin Scholars Program. My immediate and extended family members are from the Caribbean island of Jamaica. I was born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan. Of course, growing up was tough as I had to learn and adapt to two cultures. I saw many differences in food, clothing, parenting styles, self-determination, and especially language. My learned lessons and experiences helped shaped me into the person that I am today which are work hard, aim high, be determined and dedicated in all that I do, be bold and confident, love one another, and keep your head to the sky. I love being a Jamaican-American as this is my identity and special magical powers! I love and embrace my cultural roots everyday!
