The First-Gen Gateways hosts six signature events and programs every year for all first-generation college students on campus. These programs and events are designed to connect undergraduate and graduate first-generation college students in every school and college to each other and the available resources and programs for first-gen students.
This event is an opportunity for first-generation college students and their parents and families to learn more about the First-Gen Gateway. This event is for the people who students refer to as their supportive community and is not limited to parents or guardians. Families and supportive community learn more about campus resources and tips to support their students and students will meet staff and faculty partners and learn more about how to get connected to the first-generation community.
Come and visit the First-Gen Gateway located in the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives located on the third floor of the Student Activities Building. The First-Gen Gateway is a physical space that serves as a starting point for getting connected to resources for all first-generation students. This open house is an introduction to the resources available and an opportunity to meet the First-Gen Gateway staff.
The First-Gen Community Dinners is an opportunity for first-generation college students to connect with each other and learn more about the First-Gen Gateway. There will be a featured resource at this event that is dedicated to supporting first-generation students and staff will be available to answer any questions students may have. The Winter community dinner is an opportunity to also welcome our second semester first-year students and transfer students to campus.
