Wondering about how to pay for college? What are the best financial aid options for you? We asked Vickie Crupper, a first-generation college graduate who works at U-M’s Office of Financial Aid to share her expert advice:
“Welcome to the University of Michigan! I have worked here for over 20 years in the Office of Financial Aid. Our office provides financial aid assistance and guidance for students encountering financial barriers. I personally came from a rural community and my family, while both supportive and thrilled that I had the opportunity to attend college, really didn’t understand how to help me navigate the challenges that college academics and life presented. I often received direction and support from unusual and very non-traditional individuals: our dormitory’s housekeeper, the head cook at my first college job and a later employer who still serves as a mentor to this day. As a result, I have a special place in my heart for other first-generation students who have the skills and knowledge to be very successful in college but sometimes need a little extra direction or guidance. Don’t be shy. I’m here to help!”
Below is list of useful links that our office put together to help you learn about your options for paying for college. You can also contact me directly if you have any questions.”
